'Through My Eyes', Lily's debut demo album, is a project that takes the listener on a musical journey through different genres of Christian Contemporary music while spreading the message of overcoming the brokenness that life has a way of bringing. 'Rebuild', the first track on the album, details the process of getting back up after failures, disappointments, and when dreams turn into nightmares. '...Don't think it's over 'cause you lost a scrimmage when the battle belongs to God,' taken from the second verse, gives the listener hope that even though things didn't turn out right that time, the ultimate result will be your victory because the battle belongs to the Lord. 'Broken Pieces' is a song that tells the story of a person that had a close walk with God at a very young age, but after a series of hurts, disappointments, and unanswered questions, the individual looks in the mirror and sees broken pieces of the person she once was. The individual questions within herself as to how she drifted so far away from God, but even in a weakened spiritual state, finds the strength to muster the words, 'Can You take the broken pieces of me and like a masterpiece put me together again? Take the fragments of what used to be and transform me...' A very important theme of the song is perceptions. This song examines the singer's perception of her life and her relationship with God, while also pointing out how oblivious others are to the pain she's feeling. From the outside, she's fine and doing well for herself, but she's slowly dying inside. 'My Best Friend', the third and final track on the album, recalls a time when the singer is calling out to God in a desperate plea for help. The individual has experienced love gone wrong, death of close loved ones, death of friendships, broken dreams, and depression simultaneously. Without warning, she has literally hit rock bottom. In despair, she cries out to God, but in doing so, also finds herself angry at Him because He allowed all these things to happen to her at once. In a single moment, she decides the pain is too much for any one person to handle and plans to walk away from God. But in the moment she decides to walk away, she remembers she's nothing without Him and although she's in emotional turmoil and hurting badly, He never left her. He's her Best Friend and will somehow see her through.
